The winner will be announced at the Scottish Business Awards on 17th November at the EICC in Edinburgh. The keynote speaker for this year’s awards ceremony is Leonardo DiCaprio, who will speak about his dedication to protecting our environment on a global scale.
Homes for Good
Homes for Goodis the first social enterprise letting agency in Scotland. They reinvest all of their profits into helping vulnerable tenants.
Susan built her social enterprise from the ground up, starting in 2013. They are now a team of nine people and they have 280 properties, half of them belong to Homes for Good and half are managed on behalf of landlords.
Susan has raised investment of £6m, £100,000 of this secured through the LaunchMe programme. She was part of the first cohort, pioneering new ways of financing social impact in Scotland. She has ambitious plans for continued growth, intending on raising a further £16m and own 400+ homes in the following three to four years.
MsMissMrs is social enterprise that works to empower girls and women who have had a difficult journey. Sylvia Douglas, the founder, created the S.E.T programme which takes girls and women on a journey to self-empowerment. She also sells Empowerment Pants which help with the financing of the programme.
Sylvia was part of the second cohort of LaunchMe. She raised £50,000 in social investment to grow and scale her business.
Sylvia has just moved into her new premises for her business. The money raised through three different social investors will allow her to hire three members of staff to scale her social impact.
