Shop social this Christmas

December 11, 2017

There are plenty of resources available to help you shop ethically and give a gift that gives back this Christmas

The festive season is upon us, and with it comes the opportunity to spread some goodwill by shopping at a social enterprise!

If you're Glasgow-based and still searching for your Christmas tree, our friends at Locavore are back with their living Christmas tree rental service. The living potted trees will be picked up again in January and be planted out on their market garden to form windbreaks and wildlife habitats.

Tree sorted, but nothing to go under it?

Social Enterprise UK have produced their 2017 Social Enterprise Gift Guide featuring a range of ideas, from gifts for under £20 to something more indulgent. Third Force News have also come up with Ten good gifts for Christmas, which sets out a range of gift options for those that want to make a difference this festive season.

And if you still haven't found what you're looking for, the Big Issue Shop sells gifts across a range of categories, with something for everyone! You could also check out the Social Supermarket for ideas.

With over 5600 social enterprises currently operating in Scotland, why not find one in your community and give a gift that gives back. Get yourself on Santa's "nice" list in time for Christmas Eve!

If you're a social enterprise with a Christmas offer or gift to promote, tag us on Twitter or Facebook so we can share it!
