Providing Positive Inspiration

Like many social entrepreneurs, Rogan’s motivation came from his own circumstances. After recovering from brain injury, he decided he wanted to help others do the same.

Hypnotherapy had helped him to recover more in six weeks than he had done in five years on medication, so it was an obvious choice for him to train in hypnotherapy.

After his training, he still had connections with the charities that had helped him. He began to give his time helping others. He says:

The number of hours was growing and my time was becoming more about helping the charities than myself. I wanted to work hours for myself, and use the income to support others. That’s when I found out about social enterprise.

He decided to move from being a sole trader to setting up as a Community Interest Company (CIC). Colin, our Just Enterprise Business Advisor in Edinburgh, provided him with advice on how to do this.

Rogan also attended many free Just Enterprise workshops to expand his knowledge of running a social enterprise.

Rogan set up Positive Inspiration Natural Health CIC. He uses natural and complimentary health practices to help people cope with stress and anxiety. He also promotes personal growth, wellbeing and self endearment. Rogan uses varied techniques like hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), nutritional advice, massage and soon traditional Chinese acupuncture.

Positive Inspiration Natural Health CIC uses its surplus income to provide a free or subsidised service to organisations that support people affected by Brain Injury and Post Traumatic Stress.

Rogan received a Start It Award at the end of 2016. He used the £4,800 awarded to buy the equipment he needed to get started.

Rogan plans to deliver corporate programmes and group session to raise funds and health awareness.

His long term ambition is to set up permanent premises. It will allow a steady income, the possibility to offer jobs and provide greater healthcare.
